Kokeshi & Matryoshka

  Each doll has the different taste according to the producing area both for Kokeshi and Matryoshka.

We will introduce some items on this web site.  We hope that you would feel each characteristic and find the-only-one among a variety of Kokeshi and Matroshka in the shop.

Tohoku

 

  East coast of this area was attacked by the tidal waves 2011.  There are more than a few districts which are still in the middle of rebuilding.  I hope that to promote their works would be a part of the supports for them.

    It is said that Kokeshi was born in the late Edo period (1603-1868) then Matryoshika in the next era of Meiji.
  They look like the beautiful dolls of sisters enjoying their meeting for the first time in the long years.

Note -Kokeshi-

* Don't put it in the mouth.

*It would be dangerous if children swallow it.

 

* Keep the Kokeshi away from humidity and wetness.

*Traditional dye-ink will lose color when it gets wet.  Avoid touching Kokeshi with wet hands.

 

* Kokeshi is vulnerable to the direct sunlight and dryness.

*Kokeshi's dye-ink will be faded out in the direct sunlight and it's body will crack if it's placed near the sunny place or heating equipments.

 

* Kokeshi is handmade works by Japanese craftsmen.

*Each doll is the only-one item in the world.  Enjoy the subtle differences in size, shape and pattern.

 

Note -Matryoshka-

* Don't put it in the mouth.

*It would be dangerous if children swallow it.

 

* Don't hold the upper and bottom pieces detached.

*There is a possibility that they won't fit each other because each of them stretches and shrinks by climate, temperature and humidity.

 

* Matryoshka is handmade works by Russian craftsmen.

*Each doll is the only-one item in the world.  Enjoy the subtle differences in size, shape and pattern.
